About
Tristan Perich is composer and visual artist. His award winning work coupling 1-bit electronics with traditional forms in both music (Active Field, Observations) and visual art (Machine Drawings, Microtonal Wall) has been presented in venues around the world, such the World Science Festival, American Mavericks Festival at the Kitchen, Sonar, Ars Electronica, Mass MOCA, the Whitney Museum, and SxSW. His work will be included in the upcoming exhibition Soundings: A Contemporary Score at The Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) August 10-November 3, 2013.
Tristan Perich’s work is inspired by the aesthetic simplicity of math, physics and code. 1-Bit Music, his 2004 release, was the first album ever released as a microchip, programmed in assembly language to synthesize his electronic composition live. Contained on this minuscule 8-KB chip was an entire 40-minute, five-movement symphony, inspired in part by the primitive sounds of early video games.
